Building a house in todays Market.?

I live in Canada and plan on building a home next year. Is it a bad time to build a new home in todays uncertain market?

1. Hello, If you already own the piece of land it might not be such a bad idea. With today's poor construction industry, many companies are working very cheap and building a house now will cost a lot less then building 5 years ago or 5 years from now. It is a good idea if you plan to live in the house and not try to flip it as their are way to many newly constructed homes. I hope this helps.
2. i wouldn't do it. normally, the reason people build is beacuse you can get a better price per square foot than you can on existing construction. in todays market, that is no longer the case. you can get a lower price per sq ft by purchasing an existing home. good luck.
